Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our handcrafted Japanese cutlery and services.

What makes Yoshihiro knives different from mass-produced cutlery?

Each Yoshihiro knife is handcrafted by master artisans in Sakai, Japan, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Unlike mass-produced blades, our knives feature high-carbon steel cores and are hand-sharpened on whetstones to ensure superior edge retention and precision.

How should I care for and maintain my high-carbon steel knife?

To prevent rust and maintain performance, always hand wash your knife with mild soap and dry it immediately after use. We recommend applying a small amount of Tsubaki (Camellia) oil to the blade during storage and using a whetstone for sharpening rather than a honing rod.

Do you offer international shipping?

Yes, we ship our premium cutlery worldwide. Shipping costs and delivery times vary by destination. Please note that customers are responsible for any local customs duties or import taxes that may apply upon arrival.

What is your return policy for kitchen shears and knives?

We offer a 30-day return policy for items in their original, unused condition with all packaging intact. Due to the high-precision nature of our tools, we cannot accept returns on knives that have been sharpened, chipped, or damaged through improper use.

Do you provide professional sharpening services?

Yes, we offer professional whetstone sharpening services for all Yoshihiro products. You can send your knives to our service center, where our experienced technicians will restore the edge to its original factory sharpness.

Are your knives covered by a warranty?

Every Yoshihiro knife is covered by a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. This does not cover normal wear and tear, rust due to poor maintenance, or damage caused by misuse such as prying or cutting through frozen foods.
